i'm happy i finally got to see mr. wills today and get tech lab proctoring hours. tuesday and wednesday, so it's pretty convenient, too. unfortunately i'm only a sub for sitting night desk thus far... hmm. maybe i should get another job. indecisive. money vs. free time... eh. today was my second day of utopia. 'twas great fun, but i really wanted to get into an all out knock down argument and it doesn't work well with slight time lag and three campuses. mrf. i *really* wanted to start in on inherent biological problems with what the author was discussing... i think all the rest of the class is majoring in psych or philosophy, so they were discussing the social/cultural darwinism aspects of this story (herland... stilson, or something, is it? dunno, it's only online. well it's engaging. but stereotypical sounding characters and blatant naivité at times. still intersting.) while totally ignoring how odd her scientific claims were. if you have spontaneous parthenogenesis in humans... i think it pretty much precludes evolution, you know? mutations are possible, but the gene pool is static and never mixes, so the society as a whole wouldn't change together... unless there's divine intervention or magic involved. much of this book read like a fantasy novel, really. meanwhile people are only objecting to the fact that she isn't being feminist enough for them. umm... chill. this book is rabidly feminist enough already. extinguish your flaming buttocks and breathe. that class actually ran over the allotted time. it was supposed to end at nine twenty, but we got to nine thirty two or so without noticing. i really didn't want to leave, though. i *really* wanted to argue. i love arguing. so i argued with morde'an when i got home, and since she agreed with me it was mostly me explaining, then ranting slightly. *shrug* not really as fulfilling. meanwhile there's one guy in the class who will eventually drive me mad. tries so hard to sound intelligent... makes his wording quite awkward. to the point where his speech actually completely obscures what he's saying. he didn't convey and ideas well enough for us to tell if he was actually saying anything of interest. after one of his speeches our prof stared blankly for thirty seconds then moved on without replying. ^_^ now any idiocies i come up with will sound cogent comparatively. whoo! so tomorrow is the weekend already. i can sleep soon! joy of my life! and practice. not joy of my life. durn. i just don't want to play in mason anymore. too political. you're analyzed while practicing. what bs. i guess i'll go friday and saturday night and miss out on most of that crap. still haven't seen my advisor about major switch.... BAD ME. i need to make a to do list, but if i do i'll get frightened. i don't organize because i get too easily intimidated. how lame. hmm. sleep now--get six hours. not that that helped this morning. almost fell asleep in english class. sad, really. meanwhile, no one in my class has read tolkien, apparently. they all said they had read arthur, but they looked pretty blank on that stuff, too. how lame. why are you taking a mythology class? oh, i remember. the prof asked that. most of you replied it was all that fit your schedule. *sigh* am i the only person at this school who honestly wants to learn?? but yes, sleep. must know about anaximander and whatnot tomorrow. reading before class--stupid idea, really. but it's working, so i'll just end up taking flak later when things get generally less sane. eh. g'night.
