today i just spontaneously picked up a ninth class: woodwind chamber ensemble. *grin* my all time favourite stuff. there's just nothing like playing chamber music. i haven't been able to more than a couple times in the past few years, also, so this is great. well, flute ensemble, but that's.... flutes. lots of flutes. i don't like flute in quite those amounts. about an hour long concert with groups of flutes from three to twelve. sick, i tell you. anyhow, i also just feel like having so few classes is *weird*. it gets to me. so nine is more normal than eight. i guess. i still have a weird schedule, though. six classes on monday, now. starting at nine am, going until seven thirty, but i have time for lunch and dinner! what's up with that? and i have only one class on friday. really blarging weird. *shrug* well, so today was the first meeting of wind symphony (there are so many ys in symphony that i somehow want to balance it out with "wynd") and i had a ball. i've never had class with dr. holcomb before, but i knew her somewhat before. now i knew she was hyper, but really! it's great, though. she gives so much energy to the ensemble because she's frenetic and all over the place, but still focused on a goal. she's using all this excess energy like she will move the whole of the ensemble to her goal single-handedly. it's fabulous! we started on five pieces today just to read through. fun stuff. started with a grainger piece i wasn't thrilled with, and ended with a grainger piece that was much better. the first piece was the easiest the whole day and i couldn't play it. stupid piccolo. all i really needed was to be able to play an in tune c, but i couldn't manage. gah! *shrug* then we played festive overture which has fun runs and high notes and i whomped some bootay, so i felt better. *grin*. slava is the same kind of piece and was equally fun. the time just flew. i can't wait to play again next week and with a working piccolo! urgh. started reading for my myth and symbol class earlier, but i have yet to finish it, so i should get to that soon. what did i actually accomplish today? well, besides four classes. umm. *scratches head* oh, well i was at least social. liz's birthday party today. whee! i finally have seen almost all the old friends, including rich and steve who made me remember why i got involved with role playing on campus by being just as weird and silly as ever. they were arguing over what cartoon cereal character would win in a free-for-all, then moved on to fighting veggies. ^_^ consequently i have new quotes. :) "he is a cheek."--steve in reference to pac man. "it wouldn't have to be in that environment--i think they'd vote beforehand."--steve about the veggie fighting arena. those guys are so much fun. maybe i'll put up with the fart jokes for another semester and keep role-playing. heavens knows i should do it just so that i can be sure i stay geeky enough to live up to my father's legacy. =Þ not that i really am of late, it seems.... i've been wearing formal outfits the past few days which have required formal shoes, so i've been all girly and whatnot.... not really geeky enough. manders gave me such a nice compliment about it, though. :) and earlier today people i thought disliked me complimented me. it's weird when people are this nice. makes me want to check over my shoulder. ^_^ so visual basic is going to be point blank the *stupidest* course possible. well, except for intro to microcomputers which i could tell from the course description was useless. but this course!! we only do five units and they don't introduce declaring variables until unit three!! gah! what the heck do you do for two units without declaring variables?? *rolls eyes* and the prof gives extra credit for some optional assignments. can you say "easy a"? can you say "an insult to my intelligence"? eh, i should take the grade and be happy since i'll bet myth and symbol in lit. and utopia will be more interesting. and speaking of that, i think i'll go read now. g'night.
